You decide to head to the forest first, it seems the most likely place to have lost something, as well as an area where one might find something edible.

The forest is gloomy, overgrown with prickly vines and the canopy is extremely thick, letting very little light in. A lot of the vegetation grows very densely, making it impossible to pass without any sort of implement, of which you have none. There is however a clear path through the thick undergrowth. Perhaps monsters cleared a path through the forest at some point.

Maybe this wasn't the best place to investigate first, but now's not the time for second thoughts. Onwards!

As you venture into the forests darkness, you come across an intersection. You could head north or south from here, or continue on straight ahead.
